This is one of the Provinces that have not been well exploited by tourist but there are efforts to open it up. There is range of accommodation choices in the towns.

Nyanza Province is composed of areas surrounding Lake Victoria and inhabited by the Luo tribe along the lake and Kisii community in the highlands who are well known for stone carving. Kisumu city, is the Province’s headquarter and third largest city after Nairobi and Mombasa. It’s the centre of Western Kenya. Transport to the region from Nairobi can be by road or flight to Kisumu airport. Major attractions include the lake itself, Kisumu Impala Sanctuary, Ruma National Park, Kisumu Museum, Ndere Islands National Reserve, Kisii Soap stone could be a better point to buy souvenirs. A visit to Mfangano and Rusinga Islands are recommended.
